Falling Leaves

I saw this in a magazine a couple of years ago. It was in the background of a picture. They are REALLY simple to make.

String a leaf (I got my leaves at Wal*Mart a few years ago for $1.50) on some fishing string. Tie a knot so that the leaf wont fall down the fishing line. You keep on doing that until your desired length. That is it! I did the same thing for plastic snowflakes (I got the snowflakes at Wal*Mart too for $1.50) for Christmas.

Faux Metal

This is another technique that I LOVE! I got this idea from http://justduckyatheart.blogspot.com. WARNING: This technique is VERY ADDICTING once you learn it!

1. Cut your cardstock to the size that you need & peel the Flashing Tape (found at a hardware store) off its backing.

2. Cover your cardstock with the Flashing Tape. If there is a seam it's ok! Burnish the metal with your bone folder. Use your brayer to smooth out the tape on the cardstock.

3. Cut out your shape with a die cut machine. (I used the Cuttlebug). You can run it through an embossing folder or plate to give it texture, if you want.

4. The finished Faux Metal shape. You can use it at this point, or you can distress it with StazOn and mark it up with your stylus, bone folder, or fingernail. To age it-smear StazOn all over the die cut and wipe off with a paper towel. You can also use alcohol inks on it. If you distress it with tools the seam is hardly noticeable!

I put my CUTE little butterflies on this layout for my daughter's 1st birthday.

Up close of 1st page.

Up close of 2nd page.

Here is an up close of the cute little butterflies! I'll add more butterflies to this page once I get the pictures on her layout.

Used Dryer Sheet

This is a FUN technique that I just barely learned! It is GREAT if you want a snowy looking scene!

1. Stamp image on a neutral cardstock & color image or parts of image if desired.

2. Run image upside down through Xyron Machine to make the front side sticky or you may use an acid free spray adhesive, that is what I used here. If using the Xyron Machine, peel backing from image and apply used dryer sheet over exposed adhesive. If you are using an acid free spray adhesive just put the used dryer sheet on top & trim dryer sheet.

3. Pour Prisma glitter over top of image. Rub glitter into dryer sheet & tap off excess glitter.

4. Finish your card.

The items that I used to make this VERY CUTE card was:
CTMH My Acrylix Stamp Festive Frills C1328
CTMH My Acrylix Stamp Snow Friends D1244
CTMH Exclusive Inks Twilight Z2160
CTMH Exclusive Inks Black Z2105

CTMH White Daisy Cardstock 1385

BLOGtoberfest

I'm going to try to list a tip, trick, or tutorial everyday for the month of October in celebration of BLOGtoberfest! To start off on this month of celebration, I'll be showing you the Scratch 'n Sniff Embossing technique! I do want to apologize in advance for the bad pictures. I don't know why they turned out horribly!

Scratch ‘n Sniff Recipe:

Combine 3 parts embossing powder with 1 part sugar free Kool-Aid (3/4 tsp embossing powder and 1/4 tsp Kool-Aid = 1 tsp scratch 'n sniff powder)

Variations
Try different smells
Sugar-free hot chocolate mix
Cinnamon
Nutmeg

1. Stamp image with VersaMark (if using colored embossing powder) OR a Craft Pad (if using clear embossing powder)

2.Sprinkle stamped image with embossing powder. Tap off excess. Heat with Heat tool/gun to set.

3. Allow to cool for a few seconds, then scratch ‘n sniff!

4. I LOVE using this technique with Close To My Heart Stamp Cupcake Sprinkles D1336!

I made this card with:
