Generation Stamping

I'm going to show you how to do generation stamping (It is REALLY easy!) & making a card using the new technique that you learned today. I just LOVE Close To My Heart (CTMH) Creative Basic Paper Packets because it come with 12 B&T Duos paper and PLUS ribbon! You can't beat that price! This paper packet, Creative Basic Jingle Collection is ONLY $7.95 plus S&H. Anyways I will stop rambling on about how I LOVE the CTMH Creative Basic Collection & show you how to do generation stamping! :o)

Here we go! Using the CTMH Exclusive Inks Tulip Stamp Pad (Z2166)(You can use any Exclusive Stamp Pad but this is what I used for this card.), stamp the CTMH Holiday Trinkets (D1366) ornament stamp two to three times without re-inking, creating a first, second, and third generation image.

Using the same CTMH Exclusive Inks Tulip Stamp Pad, stamp a decoration from the CTMH Holiday Trinkets (D1366) stamp set directly over the second generation ornament. Choose one of the ornaments to cut out. I cut out the second generation ornament.

Cut CTMH White Daisy Cardstock (1385) to 5 ½” x 8 ½” then fold in half to make a 5 ½”x 4 ¼” card base, Cut CTMH Creative Basic: Jingle strip paper (X5808) 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”, and Cut CTMH White Daisy Cardstock (1385) 3 ½” x 3 ½”

Cut CTMH Juniper Cardstock (X5752) 4 ¼” x 1 ¼” and cut CTMH White Daisy (1385) 4” x ¾”

Using you CTMH Shining Star My Acrylix Stamp (D1320) stamp two stars (Here there is three because one of the stars is a little light due to I didn’t ink it that well.) on CTMH White Daisy Cardstock (1385) using CTMH Exclusive Inks Crème Brulee Stamp Pad (Z2167) & cut out the two stars.

Using your CTMH Holiday Trinkets My Acrylix Stamp (D1366) stamp the ornament string using CTMH Exclusive Inks Black stamp Pad (Z2105)

Now assemble your card. Attach your ornament and stars to your strings. By using 3-D Foam Tape (Z1151). Cut off a little bit of CTMH Juniper ribbon (which comes with the paper packet) and tie a knot in it and attach it by using Glue Dots (Z341) to your ornament. Distress the edges with your CTMH Exclusive Inks Tulip Stamp Pad. Attach this to your CTMH Creative Basic: Jingle strip paper (X5808) 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”. Attach it to your card base, placing it ¼” from the top and left edge. Attach the CTMH Juniper Cardstock (X5752) 4 ¼” x 1 ¼” to the CTMH White Daisy (1385) 4” x ¾” & stamp Merry Christmas from your CTMH Holiday Trinkets (D1366) stamp set. Then attach it to the bottom of your card. Distress the outer edge with CTMH Exclusive Inks Tulip Stamp Pad (Z2166).

Paper Bag Album

Today we'll be making a paper bag album. It is REALLY simple and fun. You can whip one up in a jiffy!

1. Take 2 paper bags (you can do more if you would like more pages) and lay them on top of each other alternating the ends.
2. Fold them in half to create a book. Notice how the two open ends each form a pocket. Punch three holes along the spine. Set an eyelet in each hole & thread a couple of ribbon in each hole and tie off.

3. Decorate your album as desire. I just LOVE Let's Get Together Paper Packet from Close To My Heart so that is what I decorated my paper bag album with!
Front Cover with two tags for the pockets:

1st & 2nd page

3rd & 4th page

5th & 6th page

For my paper bag album I used:
2 white paper lunch bags I got at a local store

Be the talk of the town by…..

…putting some PIZZAZZ in displaying your recipe cards! My family got together and did an ABC recipe book (a recipe for every letter) & a recipe for each month another time, all 7 of us. We have a REALLY nice recipe book and everyone that sees it LOVES IT! This is just a fun way to display your recipes. Here are two recipe cards that I did for a Close To My Heart Swap that I hosted. These cards are 6 x 6 recipe cards. But I prefer to do 8 x 8 recipe cards because you can scrap a little more then what you can do on a 6 x 6 card.

Canned Salsa

Today my mom & I canned salsa for the first time. I just wanted to share the recipe that we used. It is VERY simple & not that many ingredients!

Canning Chili Salsa

5 lbs tomatoes, peeled, chopped
2 lbs chili peppers, peeled, chopped
1 lb onions, chopped
1 cup vinegar
3 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Combine prepared tomatoes, peppers, onions, vinegar, salt and pepper in a large saucepan. (See Mexican tomato sauce for information on peeling chili peppers.) Heat to a boil and simmer 10 minutes. Fill jars, leaving 1/2-inch headspace. Close jars and process. Caution! Wear rubber gloves while handling chilies or wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching your face.
Process at 10 lbs (PSI) in a pressure canner only. Process pints for 20 minutes (0-8000 feet elevation) Process pints for 25 minutes (8001-10,000 feet elevation) Dial gauge: 10 lb + 1/2 lb/1,000 ft.; weighted gauge: 15 lb at 1,000-10,000 ft.

Note: For a milder sauce, use substitute poblano peppers (or use fewer chili peppers).

Yields 6 to 8 pints.

This recipe is from Colorado State University Cooperative Extension

Tip Of The Day: Changing Brad Colors

If you don't have the right color of brad for your project use StazOn Ink Pad. Just rub the top on the pad and now you have a color that you can use!

I didn't have any black brads so I used Black StazOn Ink Pad (Z888) to make my Close To My Heart Colonial White brad (Z1219) black! This is a recipe card that I did for a Close To My Heart Recipes Swap that I hosted.

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds

Halloween is almost here and that means curving pumpkins! This is the pumpkin that my daughter & I carved. After we carved the pumpkin we toasted the pumpkin seeds. Below is the recipe that we used.

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds

Ingredients
One medium sized pumpkin
Salt
Olive oil

1 Preheat oven to 400°F. Cut open the pumpkin and use a strong metal spoon to scoop out the insides. Separate the seeds from the stringy core. Rinse the seeds.

2 In a small saucepan, add the seeds to water, about 2 cups of water to every half cup of seeds. Add a half tablespoon of salt for every cup of water (more if you like your seeds saltier). Bring to a boil. Let simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and drain.

3 Spread about a tablespoon of olive oil over the bottom of a roasting pan. Spread the seeds out over the roasting pan, all in one layer. Bake on the top rack until the seeds begin to brown, 10-20 minutes. When browned to your satisfaction, remove from the oven and let the pan cool on a rack. Let the seeds cool all the way down before eating. Either crack to remove the inner seed (a lot of work and in my opinion, unnecessary) or eat whole.

This is the Toasted Pumpkin Seeds that we made. YUMMY!

Merry Monsters Card

I just received this stamp yesterday and I was sooo excited to get it because I fell in love with this stamp when I first saw it! I looked through the Close To My Heart Originals Card Confidence Program (9032) to see what card I can make that will go good with the stamp. This is what I came up with!

1. Cut Close To My (CTMH) Heart White Daisy Cardstock (1385) 2” x 1 ½” & stamp CTMH Merry Monsters Stamp (B1333) by using CTMH Black Stamp Pad (Z2105).

2. Color the monster with CTMH Tulip Marker (Z2366), CTMH Dutch Blue Marker (Z2319), & CTMH Sunflower Marker (Z2350). Then add CTMH Liquid Glass (Z679) to the eyes of the monster. This is for making the eyes look glassy.

3. Distress by using CTMH Edge Distresser (Z1297) & then rub CTMH Clover Meadow Marker (Z2313) on the edge to give it more color.

4. Cut CTMH White Daisy Cardstock (1385) 5” x 3 ½”. Fold in half to make a 3 ½” x 2 ½” card base.

5. Cut CTMH Creative Basics Animal Cookies paper (X5807) 3 ½” x 1 ½”.

6. Attach CTMH Creative Basics Animal Cookies paper (X5807) 3 ½” x 1 ½” to the CTMH White Daisy Cardstock (1385) 3 ½” x 2 ½” card base.

7. Attach the colored CTMH Merry Monster to the card front, placing it ½” from the top and centered from side to side. Rub CTMH Clover Meadow Marker (Z2313) on the outer edge of the card to give it more color & stamp “Have a frightening fun Halloween.” from the CTMH Merry Monsters Stamp (B1333).

The card is complete! What do you think?

Frankie Treat Box

Today I'll be teaching you on how to make a Frankie Treat Box!

1. Cut your green sheet of cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".

2. Insert scoring blade on paper cutter or use your Close To My Heart bone folder to score at 2", 4", 6" and 8" along the 8 1/2" length side of cardstock piece. You will have a 1/2" section left over.

3. Turn cardstock piece 90 degrees, and score entire length of cardstock at the 2" mark. (Your scoring blade will travel 8-1/2" down. The 5 1/2" side of cardstock piece will be against the bottom lip of your paper cutter).

4. Look at your scored cardstock piece. Take scissors and trim off the 2" x 1/2" section (not the 3 1/2" x 1/2" section). *Note: The 3 1/2" x 2" sections are the box top and the 2" x 2" sections are the box bottom.

5. Cut each 2" score mark along the 8 1/2" side. (You will be making three straight cuts, each along the 2" score marks). Do not cut beyond the long score mark running the length of the 8 1/2" side.

6. Fold along all score marks.

7. Cut out two 1” circles out of Close To My Heart White Daisy Cardstock, two ¾” circles out of Close To My Heart Black Cardstock, & one 1” circle (cut in half making 2) out of green cardstock (shown here) or Close To My Heart Clover Meadow Cardstock.

8. Put together the eyes by placing one ¾” black circle on top of the 1” white daisy circle & then put the ½ of circle of green on top of the white daisy & black circle making the eyelid. By making the hair cut a purple cardstock to 1” x 2” & then cut out little triangles. Decorate face as desire. Then past on the box as shown here. Place a section of sticky strip tape along the 3 1/2" x 1/2" flap on the decorated/stamped side. Seal the top part of the box closed.

9. Fold up the four 2" x 2" pieces; this is the bottom of your box. Use a sticky strip on the last 2" x 2" piece to seal the bottom of the box.

10. Your Frankie box is complete! This is GREAT for Halloween party favors, for your children’s friends or really anybody!

Tip Of The Day

To ink just a portion of a stamp, cover the area of the stamp you do not want to use with tape. Apply ink to the stamp, then carefully peel away the tape. Now only the section you want to use has ink on it!

Spider Border

Today I'm going to teach you how to make a spider cobweb border. You begin by...

1. Cut your CTMH Autumn Terracotta cardstock paper to 4 x 12 & random stamp the CTMH Creepy Cobweb Stamp on the cardstock.

2. Punch out CTMH Black cardstock using a 1 ½” circle punch.

3. Buy using a Crop-A-Dial, put 2 eyelets on each circle for eyes. I used yellow eyelets but you can use whatever color eyelets you would like.

4. By using a decorative scissors (I don’t know what type I used but you can see it in the picture.) cut a strip of CTMH Black cardstock by making the decorative edge on both sides of the paper. Then cut the strip into small pieces. Use the smaller pieces for the spider’s legs. Glue legs on the circles.

5. This is the finish spider border.

6. Now add it on your scrapbook page.

Items that I used to make this page was

1386 CTMH Black Cardstock
1388 CTMH Colonial White Cardstock
